The House — Philosophy
What we believe
HERZ HOUSE is not only about art. It is about the human feelings created by art — and about the people who make it, at the cost it takes.
We believe the image is a form of thought. A photograph, a film frame, a room built by an artist: each is an argument about what deserves attention, and we treat it that way rather than as decoration around text.
We believe in staying longer. A conversation is not an interview slot; a place is not a location. Most of what matters appears in the third hour, after the prepared answers run out.
We believe curiosity is a discipline. We ask about method, doubt, failure and money because that is where the work actually happens. We do not ask people to summarise themselves.
We believe a person is never only one thing. A filmmaker is also a photographer, a traveller, someone's neighbour. Our architecture is built around relationships rather than categories, because people do not live in one column.
We believe in restraint. Slow motion, quiet type, generous space, no noise. The work should be louder than the site around it.
And we believe in return. If a story is good, we come back to the person, the place, the question — for years if necessary.
